My Go-To Smoothie Combo

My Go-To Smoothie Combo + Why I Love Smoothies All Year Round

I’ll preface this post by saying that not all smoothies have to contain powders + adaptogens + collagen…or whatever wellness ingredient that you’re seeing these days on Instagram. My go-to smoothie combo brings it back to the basics.

Smoothies can be a simple way to enjoy more fruits + veggies + fiber, under the principle of gentle nutrition. It’s important to find smoothie combinations that satisfy your taste buds, too! It’s not about gulping down green sludge, forcing yourself to eat more veggies. Rather, it’s about exploring flavor combinations that look and sound appealing to you!

Here are my top 3 reasons for enjoying smoothies all year round.

Why I Love Smoothies All Year Round

1. Convenience

Smoothies are a convenient option for a quick meal or snack on-the-go. When I’m pressed for time in the mornings, smoothies are a full-proof way to satisfy my hunger and support my energy level. Furthermore, smoothie ingredients can be assembled ahead of time and stored in freezer-friendly containers or bags.

2. Cost Savings + Reduced Food Waste

Frozen fruits are often budget-friendly compared to fresh produce, depending on seasonal availability. Craving summer berries in winter months? Frozen is the way to go! Also, for fresh produce that’s about to go bad, transfer it to the freezer to enjoy in smoothies at a later date. I’m always doing this to save spotty bananas from going to waste.

3. Variety

When I notice that I’m purchasing the same 2-3 fruits each week at the grocery store, I love to work in variety by trying different frozen fruits. I’m not always one to chop an entire pineapple or cut into mangos, but I do love buying them already chopped and frozen. My Morning Glow Smoothie Bowl is one of those recipes!
